Let me open up by saying that I love moving. To move, both literally and figuratively, makes me feel alive. Now, let me explain why I love climbing.
To move in this world means we use our legs and arms. We can walk across the land, swim across the water or dive into it or crawl into the earth. Sadly we humans can’t fly. I have have done all that, but I still couldn’t scale rocks and mountains. So for the longest time, climbing felt like the final frontier, a movement which if I can master I can be fully free and go wherever I want. And that’s it.
Now climbing is rather wide terms these days so I want to be clearer. I will talk about bouldering and sports climbing as thats what I do. If I could, I would do it all outdoors, but the weather and geography is stacked against me a little ATM. Nevertheless, if lead climbing outdoors on a real rock as the sun is shining is the end, the rest I will talk about here is the means to that end.
